Psychotherapy Specialty Beyond advanced training and experience in couples treatment and working with grief and loss, I specialize in treating women who accommodate and please others. Women: I often treat women who feel they must please others, often to the sacrifice of themselves. These women work hard to be liked, dodge conflict, deny their feelings, avoid speaking their thoughts — especially if they believe others might disagree or disapprove, and worry that they’ll disappoint or upset someone if they speak authentically. Such traits served a purpose when these women were kids but in adulthood have become barriers to living full, flexible, conscious lives.
